A Field Guide to Newtopia

December 22, 2021

Thomas More - Utopia

Next year, we’re going to be exploring a new world.

It’s not exactly a utopia — an imagined place in which everything is perfect — because “perfect” is a lot to ask for. But we’re going to do the best we can, and since we’re going to be creating this world for ourselves, we can even make up our own name for it. I think we should call it “Newtopia.”

Any good explorer goes into a new place armed with as much information as possible, so we’ve put together a sort of field guide of some things you might see in Newtopia, starting with smart wardrobes and fresh choices.

Smart Wardrobes

Easily identifiable by its versatility and its adaptability, the smart wardrobe has a few key elements you should keep an eye out for.

Fresh Choices

When you see new elements brought into basic apparel collections, you’re looking at fresh choices. These add both function for today and proactive solutions for tomorrow.

Practical Perfection Simply Sustainable Business Unusual

I personally love the idea of a Utopia, an ideal place where we can all come together, heal what’s hurting and treat one another with respect while we express ourselves in meaningful ways. But ideals like that require perfection, and perfection is a pretty high bar to meet.

What makes Newtopia exciting for me is that it’s an achievable ideal we can all work toward in our own way. As we start 2022, we’ll be taking a deeper look at many of the elements covered above. I hope you’ll join me as we explore these trends together.

I wish all of you a safe, colorful and happy holiday – see you next year!
