Behind the Camera

Last week, members of the SanMar creative team went on location for a pair of photo shoots. Let’s go behind the scenes and take a look at the time and effort that goes into creating some of these stunning marketing images for print and web. (Images that you can download from our newly revamped Media Library.)

In the Studio

During the weeks of a shoot, the creative team goes mobile. They pack up their work spaces, uproot themselves from our Issaquah offices, and head off to locations. Today, we’re looking at shoots happening in indoors at Motofish Studios in Redmond, Washington and outdoors in sunny Austin, Texas.

Photographing the photographer - and her puppyWhen you walk into a photo studio, it has everything we need for a smooth photo shoot: good lighting, white walls, high ceilings and plenty of room to set up all our stuff. Meanwhile, for the District shoot in Austin, our photography team took to the streets for some more action-packed lifestyle shots.

It takes a lot of people all working together to make sure everything goes off without a hitch. There are, of course, the models and the photographers. But every photograph is passed down a chain that starts with the digitech who runs the shot through a couple basic filters before handing it off to the Creative Director who then passes it to our designers, who flag their favorites for further consideration.

Photoshoots are big and they’re fun. They give our creative teams a chance to flex their imaginations, and in the end we’re left with outstanding visuals that we then pass on to you.
