The Latest Decoration Techniques

November 3, 2020

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. It’s time to catch up with our Decorator and Digital Solutions team to see what decoration techniques have been keeping them busy lately. These up-and-coming techniques are making a big splash and catching customers’ attention everywhere.

One of the trending techniques that has had the biggest impact this year is one we’ve talked about before: the Hybrid Transfer. This is an eco-friendly technique that blends digital print and screen print technology, allowing full-color logos with no outlines or borders a possibility. Since last year, hybrid transfers have gotten softer to the touch and even more versatile, being used on t-shirts and polos as well as outerwear, masks and even hats. This has quickly become the highest-trending technique for retail markets.

The Domed Heat Transfer is a type of decoration that became popular this year. It features a raised edge and a shiny surface, resulting in a sharp, vibrant embellishment that really stands out. Domed transfers are especially popular in the sports retail market.

Finally, the Sublimated Full-Color Flock Transfer has been growing in popularity this year and it’s one of our favorites. Manufactured by Penn Emblem, this decoration style has a texture you can see and features colors that really pop.

There are plenty of new ways to look at decoration this year. How to decorate on masks and face coverings, what to do with the surprise colorways of Cotopaxi, and a new way to do direct-to-garment printing are just a few of the things we’re excited about. To get the full scoop, join us for our webcast on Friday, November 6 – we’ll dig deeper into these subjects and more.
